I hate to say this, but I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what ghosts are made of, if they exist at all. And I don't think anybody else knows either! I suppose there are some folks out there who would like you to believe they are experts in the field of the paranormal and have all the answers, and know exactly what ghosts are, they use words like ectoplasm to describe what a ghost is made of. What the hell is ectoplasm? There are also people who claim to be mediums and run elaborate scam's claiming to be able to communicate with the ghost or soul of a deceased person, and rip off unsuspecting, grieving loved ones of the deceased. Perhaps there are real mediums who can sense and communicate with the spirit or ghost of a deceased person. But if they charge for this kind of service then I would become extremely skeptical, and stay away from them.

Basically I'm a skeptic, therefore I have a real problem with the idea of a residual haunt. I have tried to envision how an event from the past, no matter how traumatic that event may have been. Could imprint itself upon the environment. The event would have had to cause an alteration of the space-time continuum itself or manipulate matter on a subatomic or quantum level. And personally I just don't believe that's possible. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I have all the answers, therefore perhaps it is possible. But even then, I just cannot wrap my mind around that possibility. So I hate to say this but I just do not believe in that kind of a haunting. I think that any sounds, voices or apparitions a paranormal investigator may see or hear are only in their own imagination and probably created in their minds by the spookiness of their surroundings. And any videos, images or audio evidence is, in my opinion just not credible because it is too easily fabricated or manipulated with computer technology using imaging editing software.
Now, for my theory as to what ghosts are, if, in fact they do exist. I do believe in the physics of conservation of energy and matter. Neither can be created nor destroyed, only changed. I believe that when a person dies, the energy that animated them in life could possibly continue to exist in some form after death. What that form would be exactly I don't know, and I don't think anybody else does either. But that being said, I think the spirit, ghost, soul or whatever you want to call it may hang around in our reality for awhile. How long it hangs around I think depends on what that individual believed before death, and what he or she expects after death. If they believed in heaven and hell as most Christian religions do, then perhaps that spirit goes to where it believes it belongs. If they believed in reincarnation as some eastern religions do then perhaps that spirit migrates to an unborn fetus and is then reborn as another person, with no memory of their past life. But on the other hand if that person did not have any solid belief system, then maybe they continue in our reality for quite awhile. And I suppose it is also possible that some may continue in our reality to haunt a particular person or place. I don't use the word haunt in any negative way. It may be just that the person does not realize the're dead, has unfinished business or wishes to communicate with, or protect the loved ones who may have survived them. Or the ghost maybe even desire to scare someone they disliked. I think it is also possible some ghosts may be trapped in this reality, and are not able to leave as some form of punishment. As an example, the ghost of a prisoner who may haunt the prison where he was incarcerated.
Physically I think the ghost or spirit is nothing more than the electrical energy that animated that person in life. I think that this energy entity may be able to manipulate matter in such a way to become visible to the living if it desires to for some reason. I also believe it may be possible that the ghost or spirit may be able to manipulate the mind of a living person to be seen or felt as the spirit may wish, especially if that spirit had an emotional attachment to the living person before their death.
As to whether evil spirits exist or not, again my answer is, I don't know! But I do believe it possible that when an evil person dies then his or her evil spirit may continue and by the same token when a good person dies than a good spirit may continue. I absolutely DO NOT believe in inhuman demons, devils or anything of that nature. I think those ideas were created by religious zealots to keep their followers in line, and are nothing more than pure bunk.
